Lead Animator
Incite is an AI-native games studio building Embark, a role-playing sandbox where you adventure with friends and a cast of intelligent AI characters. We believe AI is going to change the gaming industry and are moving fast to ship a production-ready game that is built from the ground up for intelligent NPCs with their own voice and agency to act in the world. The team is currently focused on building a horizontal slice (i.e., alpha) of the game and looking to bring on a few key players to build out the core systems of Embark.
What you will do:
- Design and create compelling character animations that bring Embark’s intelligent NPCs and other characters to life.
- Implement animations within Unity, maintaining and optimizing animation state machines to ensure seamless gameplay.
- Collaborate with designers, artists, and engineers to create visually stunning and technically efficient animation systems.
- Lead and mentor a team of animators, fostering creativity, skill development, and technical expertise.
- Continuously research and adapt new techniques and tools to stay at the forefront of animation technology.
- Act as a liaison between creative and technical teams, ensuring alignment between artistic vision and technical implementation.
What you need to succeed:
- Strong expertise in character animation with an exceptional understanding of anatomy, movement, and storytelling.
- Proven experience with Unity, particularly in implementing animations and managing animation state machines.
- Ability to function as a technical generalist, adapting to various responsibilities within animation and game development.
- Outstanding collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of leading and inspiring teams.
- A passion for gaming and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of animation technology.
- Portfolio demonstrating both creative artistry and technical proficiency in animation.
